About this briefing
Showcasing the strong relationship between Romania and the United States
This site is an independent, state-by-state look at the ties between Romania and the United States — the goods Americans send to Romania, the Romanian-American community that has put down roots in every region, and the cultural institutions that keep that heritage alive. It is designed as a quick reference for anyone working to deepen the partnership between the two countries.
Methodology
- Trade data reflects US goods exports to Romania by state of origin, in the most recent annual reporting from the US Census Bureau Foreign Trade Division. Values are nominal USD.
- Diaspora figures come from the US Census Bureau American Community Survey 5-year estimates, ancestry tabulation for "Romanian."
- Church counts aggregate active parishes listed by the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate (OCA), the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia, the Romanian Pentecostal Union, the Romanian Baptist Association, and the Romanian Greek Catholic Diocese.
- Congressional listings reflect the 119th Congress (2025–2027) and link to each office's official site.
